Gaia (meaning Mother Earth) Essentials came to life out of a necessity for good high quality skin care products at an affordable price. “I was given a natural soap by my sister about 25 years ago, and just could never go back to commercial detergents,” said Debby Icide, owner of Gaia Essentials. Genetically, her light reddish complexion needed care from products that are truly 100% natural without the addition of chemicals. With a lot of research over the years when she finally decided to make a profound career change in 2004, Gaia Essentials was born.
Gaia Essentials Skincare Products are handmade from my own formulated recipes. They contain only the highest quality Vegetable oils, Pure Essential Oils, Wild Harvested Herbs, Flora and Spices for Pure Botanical Skin Therapy. All coloring happens naturally as well, with NO artificial dyes, perfumes or fragrances. “I never just doctor up pre-made bases or formula’s so I have control over every single ingredient,” she said.
It was a slow development with a lot of input from supporters along the way. Friends would ask for something in particular and depending on the response after creating it, it might become a mainstay.

Gaia Essentials is a member of the Half Moon Bay Coastside Chamber of Commerce & Visitors’ Bureau, and a participant in their ecotourism program, and the Handcrafted Soap Makers Guild.
All the skin care products are available at the Certified Coastside Farmers Markets in both Half Moon Bay and Pacifica. She offers a full service website or by appointment at the workshop. Custom product creation is always available.
